Joni and Friends has sent over 4,000 wheelchairs with teams of volunteers to Peru since 1999. We partner with a local disability ministry, Corazones Unidos (translated “United Hearts”) that is lead by Elizabeth Takury. Corazones Unidos works year-round to bring disability ministry to the local church. They organize training, outreaches and programs to connect those affected by disability with the church. Our annual Wheels For The World outreaches serve as a catalyst to help energize and mobilize the church. Preparation for a Wheels For The World distribution takes months and it does not stop when we leave. The local church is committed to following up with those receiving the gift of mobility and discipling new believers in Christ.
